Our Sunday Service at 10:00 a.m. is live.

Masks and social distancing are required in the Sanctuary. We'd love to see you (an hour in a  mask really isn't too bad!)

Our livestream is available and will continue indefinitely on www.facebook.com/stpaulschatham and on our YouTube channel St. Paul's Episcopal Church Chatham, NJ - YouTube

Please note:
Rev. Ellen will be on vacation from 10/4-10/11

This Sunday, we welcome Rev. Jane Rockman to St. Paul's in Rev. Ellen's absence.

Coffee Hour

Coffee Hour after the 10:00am service has been a tradition at St. Paul's for many, many years. It is a wonderful time to chat with friends, enjoy refreshments and enjoy our fellowship. In order to ensure that we have this opportunity each week, we are looking for volunteers to sign up to 'host' Coffee Hour by bringing in individually-wrapped snacks and juice boxes to go with the coffee provided (and started by Sam!). Another essential role of the coffee hour host is setting up and cleaning up afterwards. Coffee Hour will be in the Parish Hall beginning Sunday, October 10th, due to weather and bee season!
Please sign up to help on the poster in the Parish Hall!

Music Notes

The prelude this week is, in German, "Allein Gott in der Hoh sei Ehr" by J.S. Bach. It is an extremely ornamented setting of "All glory be to God on high", which can be found in the hymnal at #421. You might want to challenge yourself to see if you can actually catch which notes on the organ are the notes of the hymn! Took me a while to find them, years ago when I was learning the Chorale Prelude. The prelude takes about 9 minutes.
The Postlude is the opening movement of Mendelssohn's Sonata IV for organ. It's always fun to play both Mendelssohn and Bach at the same service, since Mendelssohn was a great admirer of Bach, and actually discovered and performed some of his choral music long after Bach's death. There are many similarities in their styles, although Mendelssohn used a more pianistic style on the organ than did Bach.

Ministry Volunteers Needed!

Interested in Creating a Sunday Service for Facebook/YouTube?

We are looking for volunteers who would like to help create our worship service for Facebook/YouTube each Sunday. The technology is easy and with a little training you can become an "expert" in creating a Live Stream of our worship service. The hope would be that you could sign up to Live Stream a service every 4-8 weeks.

If you are interested or have questions please reach out to the team: Simon Mason, Steve Piazza, Andy Wang or Tom Osucha.

St. Paul's has many ministries from serving on Sundays to Outreach, including Readers, Ushers, Counters, Coffee hour hosts, Flower arrangers, Sunday school assistants, Outreach, Special events, and transporting food donations to the food pantry. For additional ways that you can become more involved, please contact Rev. Ellen for more information.
