Newark Shared Ministry

House of Prayer

As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors wholly. At St. Paul’s, we are committed to loving our neighbors in the immediate area, in the diocese and in the wider church. Our Diocese includes the city of Newark, an area where homelessness and poverty abound. Many churches in Newark do not have the financial resources to do the ministry so desperately needed there. In 2014, several churches from the Episcopal Diocese of Newark began praying and thinking about how they can best serve the people of Newark, where homelessness and poverty abound. This short film shows how Christ Church in Short Hills, St. Paul's Chatham, House of Prayer Newark, The Episcopal Diocese of Newark, The General Theological Seminary and The Apostle's House are working together to care for people in Newark both spiritually and materially. We hope it can become a model for ministry, church wide.
